Purpose & Contentment…

Before I begin this post, let me start off with the definition of the word content:

  1. Freedom from worry or restlessness :  peaceful satisfaction

  2. The state of being happy and satisfied : the state of being content

Contentment Within….

When you awake in the morning, what is the first feeling or emotion you feel when you open  your eyes? Is it a feeling of purpose, happiness, joy, gratefulness, peacefulness, understanding, hate, anger, misplacement, or confusion?

A lot of times when we wake up we forget that there is a GREATER PURPOSE for us being awakened. And, the reason is NOT because my kids woke me up or my significant other woke me up.  You have been woken up by none other than the CREATOR.  He sees something in you that he is trying to illuminate and develop.  Every day you are given the opportunity to step into your purpose and determine WHY you are here and what you are meant to do in this life on earth that is pleasing to God.

Exodus 9-16

Knowing that you were given this opportunity to chase after His purpose for you and your life, I ask again when you first awake what are some of the feelings you feel when you open your eyes?  If you have never taken the time out to really and truly reflect on your eye opening feelings and emotions, maybe you should because if you have not you will continue to go on in life not realizing that God has something greater for you.  Even if you are happy in life and content where you are, wouldn’t you feel so much better being where GOD has destined you to be.  How can you do all the work and not have faith that it can propel into areas in which you didn’t even believe to be possible.

Contentment 2

From my personal experience, I have experienced every feeling or emotion in which I listed above.  Some days I open my eyes and I just don’t know my purpose at all.  Yeah I know I have to work and get the kids ready for school as well as myself.  However, I sometimes do not know HIS purpose for me throughout the day.  Yes, my want is to be better, in every aspect of my life, than I was yesterday but how do I compare my want with HIS want, I CANNOT.  There is no way to because ultimately my life is HIS.

Even when I don’t know my purpose I do know to be grateful for the opportunity to at least have another day to get it right.  My happiness is in knowing that He is giving me a chance to come close to HIM and do HIS will before it is too late.

  1. Great post! I definitely need to remind myself of this daily. I am not just waking up to go through the motions of caring for my family and home, God wakes me up daily to be present with this family and home he has blessed me with. The more time I spend growing closer to God, the more I come to realize that He chose me to be a wife to my husband and a mother to my children for a reason. I definitely have dreams, goals and ambitions outside of being a wife and mother (many that He planted within me) but right now my first calling is to know God and care for my family.

    1. Thank you Liz. I think we all have to remember to not become complacent in life and focused on just going through the motions. That is what prompted me to write this so that new believers as well as seasoned believers can remember that there is purpose within our lives here on earth and in order to experience the greatness He has in store for us we have to indulge ourselves in Him and seek our our purpose based on His plan for us, NOT our own which can leave us stagnated in life.
